Escort Shotguns - Got one or an opinion?
« on: August 05, 2010, 02:27:18 PM »
Looking at buying an Escort Shotgun in desert camo to match my Howa Axiom. Will be mainly using it for coyote hunting. Says it takes 3" shells but nothing about 2 3/4" or less but I dont know anything about shotguns. Looking at model number HAT00017DST on LegacySports.com, comes with a 28" barrel and 3 chokes for about $500. Any helpful info on these would be appreciated!

dont know anything about escorts but the length listed on the barrel is the max length of shell it will fire so anything shorter than the listed 3" will be fine

You might also have a look at these http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/20752 I have the 24" version and it's fantastic, built like a tank and easy to disassemble/clean. They are made by Baikal and are re-branded by Remington currently.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Wow - that is a good price. I'm gonna have to look closer at considering that one. Do you know if the come in a full camo version?

Yes they do but not from Bud's, look at other Remington dealers.

I've had one for 5 yrs. Absolutely love hunting duck and geese with it.
i shoot 3" with mine, my son shoots 2 3/4 with his.
Watch out for the finish. the cheap cleaners, like walmart stuff, will eat the finish off in a heartbeat. The finish is a powder coat type, not blued.
Only thing I don't like is if you want to buy parts, you can't. you have to send the gun to OK, they fix it and send it back.
I bought o rings for the piston at Park rose Hardware and  I changed the plastic magazine follwer cup to an all stainless set designed for Winchester, they are the same size.
Keep them oiled good and they run like crazy. I fired mine underwater and it cycled perfect. I cleaned it afterward, but it was fun.
Don't use a lot of heavy oil in freezing weather, they get tempermental.

It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
