must be luck!!!

First of all, congratulations to all you successfull hunters, i am extremely jealous. In the weeks leading up to the season, I scouted this area and saw three bears.
I saw all three at differnet locations (all within 8 mile area), different time of day, and different wheather. At all these areas i noticed there were stumps with bark torn off and what i think is bear scat. One of the bears i watched for a half hour only about 50 yds off, sooooo cool. Since the season has started however, I have revisited these areas at different times of day with no luck at all. I also bought a predator call, watched the DVD that came with it, and have gone back to these areas to try my luck, still nothing. I have begun to broaden my search to other clearcuts further away from my house but have not seen the same amount of stumps with fresh bark missing.
Not sure, but it seems like they have left the area, or I was extremely lucky to see them in the first place. Could anybody give me some pointers, this is my second year hunting and I have lots of time. Just not sure if I am doing the right things. Thx, i could use all the help i can get!!!

I have definitely got the time, but not sure i am looking in the right places. Have not seen any trees with bark missing, or any new sign. Is it just being in the right place at the right time? All the clearcuts seem to have berries in them(not ripe yet)

last bear i saw was about a week before the start of the season. As i was looking across a canyon at a very large three point, I looked to my right and saw a bear cross a washout about 150 yds away. I watched him paw at a log then disappear into some re prod, then reappear a few times in little openings. couldn't tell what he was feeding on. He seemed to be just moving through stopping only to sniff stuff and tear up a log or stump.

What you need to figgure out is what were the Bears feeding on when you saw them? Is that feed still available to them? Is that food source gone? Grass, roots, bugs, berries, etc, etc. When you hunt Bears think food. They are almost all the time eating. What source of food right now is the most abundant and available to them? Where is that food source. That is where I would be.

I went out to a place today, where, in September you are pretty much guaranteed a bear.
However, in August...there is little to no sign. I saw one bear track today.
The point is, they seem to go in and out of areas, depending on food. I would stick with the areas that you know of that currently have berries.
Good luck!
