7mm08 barks (bear down)
« on: August 08, 2010, 08:14:09 PM »
After hunting at least 20 plus days this spring with my Monroe spring bear tag and 7 days this month I finally put one down yesterday morning about 8 o'clock.
I parked at the gate at daylight got my gear on and walked into a new spot I had found last Tuesday after work.  I walked to the end of one road and glassed the big clear cut nothing.  Then about 7:30 though I would walk down to the other end of the cut and glass some more.  I got back to the main road and walked about 50 yards down it when a bear jumped out of the clear cut and into the road.  She ran down the road and into the timber.  So that's when I decided to chance her down.  I ran down the road about 150 yards or so then started to walk.  I could hear in to my left in the timber then saw her pop into and opening only 40yds away.  I rested my sako 7mm08 on my tripod and shot.  She barked when the bullet hit ran about 30yds and piled up.
My dad came up with a makeshift game cart an aluminum ladder and some boat wheels.  It worked great both guys can grab a side and just walked her out to the truck.  It was by far the quickest bear pack I have been on.
I know you guys are just like me and want to see some pics.  Well I got them but I will have to get my wife to post them becouse I'm a computer dumb a$$ ass and don't know how.  Oh by the way I typed this whole thing as I sit on a stump waiting for bear number 2 to show itself

This sounds interesting.  Hopefully you got a picture of this.  Good job on the bear.
