My Project
« on: August 09, 2010, 08:54:32 PM »
I decided to give something a try, a little out of the ordinary.

You know those make it stone kits you can get from places like wally world and kmart. Well the wife got one right before christmas and asked me to do this pot thing she had for planting flowers in for the porch. So I did it, pretty simple and turned out good. As I was doing it, my nine year old daughter says " Dad, you should do that to your guns." I shrugged it off at first, but then actually started putting some thought into it.

I had an extra stock for my TC Black Diamond XR and did it up with one of them kits. Then I let the stock sit outside in the weather from January till June. I would go check on it weekly and man handle it and drop it on the ground to see if I could get it to peel or chip or something.

Needless to say, after cleaning it up with some soap and water it looks like the day I did it.

$14.00 total cost

Let me know what you think.

Looks good to me.  I used spray on truck bed liner in a can on a Marlin lever gun some years ago, it held up ok, but not great.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Looks real good. I have used that and the webbing spray paint and they both seem to hold up real well if you prep everything correctly.

I like it! What's the grip like with that on slick, tacky?

I took my time with it and was in no hurry to get it done. Did a few base coats and let them dry for a day or two between each coat. The same with the clearcoat sealer you get with the kit.

When wet, the gun isn't slippery or tacky feeling, just feels good.
