I thought this topic might  :stirthepot: The 100 yrd with no experience, with total ease right out of the box, no practice needed ability to kill Elk comment is a bunch of "BULL ROAR" I would also like to meet these DR.'s that put everything on the line providing a false diagnosis to give a hunter an advantage that really is no advantage at all . Crossbows do not shoot farther, hit harder, penetrate deeper, or are they more accurate at any yardage mine shoots 35 thru 45 yds on the same pin that's about it, it shoots dead flat at that yardage. Other than that a x-bow is hard and slow to cock with no mechanical aid, they are heavy 7.5 to 10lbs they suck to carry, even worse with a sling and they are loud, wouldn't count on a second shot. I would be willing to meet and shoot with anyone that would truly like to learn more. Bottom line, we all need to support our fellow hunters able bodied or with special needs. I'm not talking about the irresponsible A-holes that have ill intent and lack of respect that call themselves hunters. Those of us that truly love and respect our sport as, well as our rights need to stick with each other to preserve what we seem to be losing allot of "Our freedom to hunt and fish" Don't sweat the small *censored* support your fellow hunter  ;).

I'd read in the med-evil times, they had cross bows that had a 300 lb draw weight, and a built in crank to "draw". I imagine the bolt would have to be very substantial to deal with that kind of power.....but the technology must be there, 'cause thats what I'd want!!! ;)

And they didn't have "cams" back then either. In a crossbow, cams would only be a selling item.....not counting state restrictions.
