Looking for some tips for shore fishing lake rosevelt!
« on: August 10, 2010, 09:31:56 PM »
I am heading to lake rosevelt for the weekend with the girlfriend and her family. I am going to have to do some fishing to stay sane! Any tips on what fish are hitting on??? Worms, power bait, rooster tails? Any tips would be appreciated. I will be fishing from the shore.

Thanks!

Watch all the boats in the NW Bass tourney on Saturday.  If there are a bunch piled up in one area, I'd say that is the place to be!

What species are you targeting?

Bass can be caught near shore on finesse worms like senkos and also on crankbaits/rapalas.  Natural colors are best, Black/brown/grey, due to water clarity. I have had good luck on some nice fish with black senkos with purple flake.

Trout love rooster tails, small rapalas, and casting spoons.

Anything in that lake will bite worms and a bobber, you will catch lots of smaller fish this way.

Lake Roosevelt is an awesome fishery, good luck and have fun!

I would like to target trout and bass but I don't know where I will be. I know we are dumping the truck and catching a 15 minute boat ride to our campground.

If its hot, target near the mouth of feeder streams.  I've never caught any bass on LR, so can't help you there.  I tend to use leech patterns, sculpins, or minnow (zunkers or muddlers) and fish down.

Grubs or the good ole earth worm should catch you plenty of fillet sized bass.  I like the brown colors for Roosevelt.

I think there is some walleye in there too, I think a lot of the same techniques would work on them too.
Coastal Perspective.
