whats edible in the woods right now?
« on: September 08, 2010, 02:00:30 AM »
i know im gonna get "grouse" from all you crazed yahoos with mouths watering with gun in hand....

but whats in season?

i know the berrys are but thats it...

now that we have had a rain, are the mushrooms gonna start popping up? if so, what are the ones to pick?

just never gave it too much thought...
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

I did great on Chantrells last weekend. All normal places yeiled shrooms. They are early and its looking to be a great year.

Lobsters mushrooms are out too. Very good eating, but harder to find.

Might be a bit early yet for the Cauliflower corals but ya never know.

The Chickens like SV said. They can be great in the early seasons as there not all hardened up yet. But most just eat the outter edges.

Lots of shrooms.
As stated above, chicken of the woods and chanterelles. This week I also found a cauliflower mushroom, some oyster mushrooms and a couple Shrimp mushrooms.
