When to switch from field points to broadheads?
« on: August 12, 2010, 08:16:54 AM »
I have a friend that shoots broadheads all year and doesn't want to shoot a walk through with field points because of this.  When do most of you switch?  I usually shoot the last three weeks on broadheads, but I will still pull them off and shoot field tips at the sportsmans club- even if I am sighted in for the broadheads.  Any ideas?

If everything is right, they should shoot about the same.   I try to shoot them at the same time.  One broadhead and then fieldpoints.  This helps make the block last longer.

:yeah:   I just started doing the same.  Quiver is loaded with 1 BH, and 4 field points.  Shoot the BH first ...that first shot that has to count, then shoot the field points. Last year leading up to the season, I tore up my 3-D and block just shooting BH's.

If you bow is in tune they will be the same.  If you have to make ajustments with your broadheads then you bow is probaly a little off.  I shoot broadheads all the time unless at the range but I shoot mostly at my house.

I try and shoot a 5-1 ratio of field tips to broad heads. I was shooting more broadheads but I was running through targets pretty quick. My broad heads shoot pretty close to my field tips, a little low so I have some tuning to do.

i shoot both at the same time most the time :dunno: my field tips hit about 1/2-1" higher then my broadheads because my field tip arrows are a little lighter.
