Another elk hunting question... JACK FIRS???
« on: August 13, 2010, 08:43:15 PM »
My elk spot has a good amount of jack firs, I know i can't chace elk in there. But does anyone have any tactics on getting elk out of there or just wait and hope they come out near you. There is no good way of looking into the firs but i there are a ton of trails leading in and out with old timber and clear cuts near by.

Matt

another question that i forgot to put in there was. If you push a bull or even a bull with some cows, about how long before they come back. I know there are alot of factors to this, but there isn't alot of other hunters in the area.

Set up a tree stand on the border of the older growth. Find thier travel routes and wait them out.

Typically, what i've learned from my own experience is if you push elk out of their area, normally they will be right back in the same spot in 3 days, give or take.

Get some deer deterrent spray and squirt it on the trails you don't want to watch, and wait them out.....
