Ive seen a lot of videos of guys cutting apart bucks that were locked together. First time ive seen one shot though..
Kinda Sad to watch, hope they got them apart and the other buck was ok.

Would have been great to take them both one for the shooter one for the camera man and have them both mounted locked together still.

i would of sawed their horns off and tried for them next year.  about as sporting as shooting cows in a field

What about fair chase? I thought it was illegal to shoot and animal that was incapacitated deep snow thing's like that would this not fall under that category because either buck could get away? Sorry that's not hunting.

i have seen that as well. on the other place i saw it. they said that the other buck was sawed free after the one was dead. but they said they wanted to shoot one because they could not Handel 2 of them thrashing around who knows

It may not have been sporting but its a lot more humane than having them starve to death or have predators come upon them. As far as cutting off the antlers how do you do that with them thrashing arround?

I have an older Eastman's video where they came upon 2 muleys locked up with one already dead.  They roped the live one and cut one of his antlers so he could get free.  I figured they didn't cut the dead ones antlers cuz they wanted the rack.   

One of the guys, I think it was Mike Eastman, almost got a wicked kick when they were roping that buck. 

A long time ago over on MM there was a guy who posted a series of pics where he came across the same thing with one buck dead on a dirt road.  If I remember right he used his pistol to shoot an antler of the dead buck to free the live one.  The buck wondered off kind of dazed and ended up coming back in a few minutes and getting a few more licks in on the dead buck.  Was pretty cool!  Anyone remember that?

i dont think thats a great video to post on youtube, that wasnt the most respectful thing that hunter could have done, he could have easily waited for them to unlock instead of stressin the piss out of the other deer, i doubt they were going anywhere...

I posted that video and it is a bit brutal.  There was no waiting for them to unlock.  They both would have faced certain death.  I'm not certain how I would have handled that situation...

Atleast it has a happy ending If they did cut antlers to free the 2nd buck

There was a story years ago in the Wenatchee World about a local father and son that killed locked bucks.  I would rather put them in the freezer than let them die a slow miserable death.
