Little Naches elk hunt
« on: September 20, 2010, 05:46:00 PM »
Just got home from the Ravens Roost area us like a lot of people were camped up there.  I drew the big bull tag up there last year and were in the elk every day actually had bulls bedding around my camp on multiple nights.  Not this year.... there did seem to be alot of camps up there this year but i wonder just how many of them were dummy camps.  Quite a few it sure seemed. Any how hunted the first couple days up there to not even see an elk moved up high and were in the elk.  Still came home with tag soup but it was fun. Actually made a stalk from 200 yards to 15 on a sleeping cow friday evening to only shoot her dead square in the shoulders uphill and quartering to me.  Yes i missed everything that bleeds didnt find her makes me sick and yes i do practice.  The camp next to us had a little success seen 3 cows and a bear over the 12 days there.   And does anybody have anything to say about the kind gentleman that decided to sight in there rifles directly in the middle of know elk country.. :bash:  I mean really it wouldnt take long to figure out it was bow season, and these guys decide to shoot high powered rifles  :bdid:  whatever they make all kinds.  And can someone tell me exactly what the rules are when it comes to riding motorcycles past the gated roads.  From what i can read your not to have any wheeled vehicles past the gated roads or signs limiting public access.  If thats the case we need to get the word out a little more clearer.  It sucks when you are hunting an area and elk are answering and a couple guys ride by with bows strapped to there bikes.  Not just one day but three different days......Maybe we can talk to someone bout splurging for new signs?  All in all a good year hope everyone stayed dry this year...  C u next year.

Sorry to hear about the lost elk. Yeah I hear you about the idiots that sight in rifles during bow season. The same thing happens the day before deer season. Guys just go up the road from there camps and decide to finally sight in the guns for the season. Makes us hunters look bad in my mind.

yeah people have no clue or just don't care.  It happens during every season.  you just need to get further away. It's sad.  alot of people just have no common sense.  hope you have a better late season.
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

Yeap.  Our group heard the gun shots too.  I was about to take out my 44 and start shooting the heck out of it.  Glad I didn't cause I was thinking of all the bow hunters near by, including myself.

One group next to us had their stereo cranked up so high the ground shook.  I mean the bass sound traveled so far out.  Why???

Man, that Sucks , What ever happened to the hunting edict that was instilled in me when i was hunting with my Grandpa. always be respectful,  obey the laws, and be courteous to all other hunters!!!!  man i hate it when guys like that don't think . Sorry to hear about the missed shot

May not have been hunters.  Possibly the ORV users that love that area. :dunno:  I was over their last week and seen the most elk sign down lower along the river.  Very quite though, not a bugle all day.

Fall is a good time of year to be in the woods, no matter what your love is.  Its public land so we all get to share.  I bet with muzzel season coming there were a ton of dummy camps.  I saw a couple vacant tents up the Nile.   Bulls were somewhat vocal.  Lots of folks out chasing bugles still even withthe seasons closed.  I got stalked a couple times.  Its nice to know I sound like an elk.

I've always thought it is fun to sight in the rifles within some others seasons.
