Got one...
« on: August 19, 2010, 09:26:14 PM »
Ok, so we went down to try and call in a bear on Monday, After about 35 min or so we realized we should have brought the Therma Cell, gloves, face maskes & worn long sleeve shirts because we were getting eaten alive by skeeters  :bash: . We decided to head to a differant spot and started to walk off, we got about 20 yards and stopped to look behind us only to see,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, yep, you got it, a bear walking down the trail toward us  :yike: . It had stopped and was just looking at us, I slowly dropped to a knee as it turned broadside and I squeezed the trigger,,, CLICK...... the shell didn't go off  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:  :bash:. The bear started to walk and Jay squeaked at it, It stopped to look at us some more. I jacked a nother shell in, lined up and BAMMM,, I looked down the trail and the bear was gone  :bash: . We went to where the bear was standing and found a nice trail of blood, the Olympic Arms 300 supper short mag really did some damage. The bear only went about 15 to 20 yards and piled up  :IBCOOL: . Not a giant and the footage isn't great but no biggy, I'm happy. We have more tag's, now we just need more bear's  :chuckle: .

Well, we were calling the whole time and we had only stopped for a minute when we started to walk off and saw her coming toward us so  :dunno: , my guess would be she was coming to check out what free meal she could get but I'm not an expert in calling bears  :dunno: . That is the first time Seeing one while calling and I have only tried it a few times so I cant answer that question with absolute certainty. My guess would be yes, she was coming in to the call.

BTK, what do you think? Your the bear calling master

Honestly? I think you lucked out on to a suicidal one. LOL

I am sure it was coming to check you out. For what? Who knows. Due to the close proximity, it had to have heard you calling, but why did it come in?  :dunno: It could have been hungry or it could have been curious. Either way it is always cool to call one in. Congrats.
