Get a stand up!!  That would be a great blacktail to tie a tag on.  Good luck!  ;)

Set the groundblind in place tonight before dinner. Should be a 15-25 yard shot if I get one at all. Hopefully my next update will have me and him in the picture.

Here is an awesome pic from last night. I sat in the ground blind for 6 hours tonight and didn't see a single deer.

Looks like that sucker got smart and turned nocturnal! Good luck...

IMO, I think you're going to need to change your approach on this buck.  They go pretty well nocturnal once the velvet comes off.  I'd start by figuring out where he's entering this field (if not known) and you need to take special care to NOT leave scent on the ground or vegetation.  Knee high rubber boots or even hip boots if need be and don't touch anything with bare hands.  Wear surgical gloves if you must touch brush and/or clip away anything in your way.  Once you determine his preferred trail(s), you can either back track to a likely staging area and find a good tree for a stand (consider at least two wind directions) or you can move your camera there to verify his usage and get better dialed in on the timing.

You have to get him moving to that field because he's likely going to continue entering later and later, and though it's not talked about much, the early rut phase is starting with the shedding of velvet.  He will begin staking his claim with resident does in subtle ways, and as a result he may wander for a couple days before returning to this area.  In other words, if you want to tag this buck in the early season, you need to get aggressive and back track his location to a daylight encounter. Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!!

This is a working farm with scent and people around on a semi regular basis. I have daytime pics on the 30th of him with 2 other bucks. Today a few guy's were working from 6:30-4:30 less than 150 yards from this spot so I didn't have much hope for tonight. I've seen him on neighboring property twice alway's with his 2x buddy. Can't hunt there or the place directly next door so my options are limited. The only other place that I have also seen him I can hunt but just not this buck because that guy wants him for the smokepole season. Thanks for the advise I will use what I can.

Got it - looks tight.  Your approach might be best...the guy who puts in the most time may win in this case.  FYI, Baiting is legal for deer in WA.  A pile of apples in that opening will keep them coming back on a regular basis, if that suits your style of hunting.  Some people are fine with baiting and some aren't.  To each his own as long as it's legal  :twocents:

Is that the tree farm on Lebore Devore? If it is it's right down the road from me. I've seen some good bucks around but none as good as some of the ones you have pics of. Good luck on getting one of them

Well it all came together tonight with a 13 yard quartering away shot from the ground blind. Complete pass through and he was dead in less than 30 yards.
