Fawn Killer
« on: August 21, 2010, 10:37:29 AM »
This bear cruises through my property periodically, two resident does that had fawns are now running solo.  It irritates me to say the least. There are more bear per square mile here than I have seen anywhere else in western Washington.  Had bear season been open I could have climbed up on the roof (again) ;) and had an easy kill.
Any idea on the size and sex of this bear??

That's a shooter in my book. Doesn't matter what sex as long as you're sure there are no cubs with her.

Yeah something weird is going on :dunno:, for the last three weeks the deer have flat disappeared and bear have been crawling all around the area.  My dog alerts me when they are around, he has a different bark for bear.  His kennel backs up to the reprod where they travel, occasionally they will take a shortcut through my property like that one did.  My "hunch" is that one of the many landowners in the area started baiting deer and the bear have found an easy meal, nothing else makes sense.  Don't know how I feel about shooting one on it's way to catch a possible snack..like I said it's just a hunch :dunno:  There's always been a lot of bear around but this year it's just been stupid.

May 31 this year.  Right about when the fawns started dropping.  Seen that one 3 times since then, no photos though.

Any guesses from the experts on how much she might weigh??

In a month or so I'll start my usual apple bait in the usual spot and my wife and I will enjoy the usual deer circus that comes every year.
Good luck over in your neck of the woods.  Maybe I'll bump into you on here again in a few months. :)
