Saw a few mtn bike tracks. The "bed" of the car looked about right for a bike.

I would put money on hiker or mtn. biker. I couldn't picture a bear hunter in a subaru.

We were near there in a Dodge.  Passed a few Subaru style cars midday, one with Nevada plates heading in there to check their grow or drink/shoot.  I didn't see the car with the pink thing on the back like that last picture... Passed a few guys stealing wood, well stading 50 yards from the wood by their trailer one with an "o sh!t" look, the other with a "wasn't me look."  We were socked in with fog at daybreak and headed lower after about 10.  Grouse, deer, elk, no bears though.  Berries are ripening but still bitter.

I really don't think you are talking about the same road,I would be amazed if you seen elk in there.I've seen them in the river bottoms in Sultan.Never up in the northern part of Sultan though. :dunno:

Anybody hunting off Sultan Basin Rd Saturday evening and driving a silver Subaru AWD 4 door with a little truck bed area in the back? I hunting the same area and but never saw anyone (or a bear). Want to compare notes?

The answer to your questions would be, no we wern't hunting bears and saw no signs of. I am an active mountain bike rider, hiker and camper. A good friend of mine, his girl friend and sometimes one or two of his kids join me in a weekend tour into to forrest. So to any and all who are hunting in the area, becareful, good luck and be mindful of where you shoot. I really don't need to be removing a bullet from any of my possi members from a missplaced shot.  ;)

Xtream bike 4life, how did you find this website and this thread?  Seems kind of odd that a non-hunter would find this thread on here?  Welcome to the site.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I believe there are more then one non-hunters on this site. Just because someone doesn't hunt doesn't mean they are against it. I know of a few that view this site because of the photos (great photos I might add) and some of the fishing threads as well.

That is what makes this site so much better then the run of the mill hunting site. It shows what this state truely has to offer. Example...last months picture of the month thread. Those pictures were awsome.  ;)

Might want to compare notes with someone who drives a truck because atleast they expect to get something and haul it out with. :chuckle:

Have fun all u want, nothing keeps up with a subie in snow and ice, the seats fold down, and they can carry 950 lbs. Nothing can rally logging roads better, actually theyre the world rally champion every yr, A subie can do 60 through bumps, gravel, and ruts very smooth n quiet. I know burning wayy too much gas just for u and ur buddy to look around logging roads is alot of fun though! :chuckle: "GOD" gifted me I guess so I dont really need a giant vehicle, LOL....But its funny listening to some of the hard core closet brokeback types talk about how big thier um,.. trucks are  I bearhunt, with a bow, alone, and I drive a subie and have a concealed pistol license and carry a 44 revolver...dont ASSume anything!!

Id really like to see a black bear or deer that wont fit in a subie....3 fat people can fit in the back at 600 lbs or more....and the seats fold down and theres a cargo rack on top too...the only elk that wont fit inside are  huge bulls, because of the antlers which can go on top wrapped up...

next time your trying to make it up the pass and a subie zips by in 4th gear maybe think about how sweet it must be to spend half as much on gas and zip by big 4x4s like theyre standing still and have 4 weel drive all the time...But if youre trying to attract men, definately get a BIG truck!Guys like trucks! :chuckle:   :chuckle:

I know you are kidding, BUT I hauled two whole bears out (150# & 250#) at the same time in the back of a Ford Escort Wagon. I did not expect to kill two bears that weekend, but I always expect to kill something.
