Dead Bird?

I got bored yesterday so I went shopping.  I found a featherflex Jake decoy for @ $10.  I thought it was kind of cheezy, so I took bubble wrap I was using to make a bag target and stuffed the decoy with it, then took it out back to fling arrows at it.  Figured it makes a decent 3D target and cheap.  Put about 50 arrows into it yesterday and it is holding up well so far.  The foam kind of closes back up after I remove the arrow.  Fine for field points, but would not use a broadhead on it!
My son decided he had to be in the picture too, since he was helping me find the turkeys in the "woods" and pointing them out for me.  He was pretty excited.  Dropping to his knees and whispering, "There is one, he is huge!  Take it easy, deep breaths!"  There is hope for him yet to be a hunter!

So, what do you think?  Dead bird or do I need to aim higher, lower, forward or back?

Just thought I would pass the idea along to you all.  Passes the time until Turkey finally opens!

I like the fact that I can spin this one on its axis pretty easy.  Been practicing head on and facing away as well.  They seem like a much higher percentage shot and I seem to hit better there.  Right below the beard or about halfway up the back centered between the wing joints.
So far, I am pretty consistent out to 30 yards on the decoy, but it is a whole different world when it is the real thing!

those are the dekes i use in the woods. they work!! 2 years ago shank and i had 2 toms strutting around the jake decoy drumming and getting ready to put a hurting on him...then shank pulled the trigger in self defense and the threat was no more.

Yeah, the more I look at it, the better it looks.  They were dirt cheap, so I think I will go get a couple hens and another jake.  Cannot wait for the season.  Will use the bow until I get one, or I miss too many times, then out comes the shotgun!  Of course I will have to pry it out of my wifes hands first!

I did the same thing last year. I used the bow first for a few days. I ended up shooting a nice tom....with my shotgun.  Them dang turkeys wont hold still long enough for me to wack one with an arrow. I will try again this year though. Sure would be an added bonus.

Darn fine shot, especially with a large diameter broadhead.  I think at a real bird I would maybe want to be an inch higher and an inch left.

Closer toward the wind joint?  Will try a few more tonight, see if I can consistently put it in the boiler room.
Not going to use Guillotines or Bullheads, so I want to be as accurate as possible.
