But he did take the meat and bones into the butcher and hanging weight without hide, head and guts was 230lbs! For picture referance my buddy is 6'04" 250lbs.

Well if the scale was right then add about another 30 pounds for guts. And another 65-75 for cape and head.  I wont even guess. Just got to say I love the white V.   Congrats to your buddy.

I've been deceived!   That just goes to show you how the camera may not tell the whole story. Looking at that fruit tree where he is standing, I did not judge this Bear to be that big at all. Proves that pointy ears don't always give away the size of a Bear either.

I also like that white V.  Nice Bear with a Bow. Nice Bear most anywhere.

I think the bear is over 500 lbs.  Look at the head!!!.  The distance between the ears is huge.  Also if the person is 6'2" the bear is every inch that long.  I think everyone is underestimating it. :yike:

Bears are hard to judge, and easy to underestimate. If hanging weight was 230 lbs im sure live weight was 350+. Nice bear! What unit?

When the bear stood up, he was over 6 feet tall.
185 tops.  Short little bugger.

-Steve
:yeah: Judging by the grass nearby and that tree he doesn't stand all that tall.

Nice bear. 230 + about 70 for hide/head + 30 or so for guts would be about 330#. It is a solid bear, but 300+ seems a bit high but photos are deceptive. I would have guessed 280#.
