Sonic 125gr flies like a field tip for me.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

When everything is right there are a lot that fly with field points.

I have been shooting the G5 Montec the last few years and once my bow is tuned with field points I haven't had to change anything for the Montecs.  Super tough head also!

True. Like Magnus stingers, Montec's, thunderheads. All fly well when bow is tuned

I use woodsmen elites... fly perfect.  However as said before any broadhead should fly the same as your field points if tuned properly.

I didn't make any adjustments from field tips to broadheads shooting standard 100 grain slick tricks.
I think as long as your bow is dialed in, you should find the same results with any good quality head.

As long as your bow is property tuned and set up, they all should. I've used Montecs and Muzzy 3-blades and both flew just like field points.

Slick tricks and G5 Strikers.  I have to spend a little extra time to tune Muzzy's and Innerlocs but can usually get them close.

for the most part, all of them do if your bow is tuned correctly.   Muzzy's have worked for me for many years.

I've used Wasp, Montecs, Thunderheads, SteelForce, and now SlickTricks.  All flew well when properly tuned to the bow.

Currently the SlickTricks were shooting about 1 1/2" out of the bull, but were all grouping nicely in the same spot.  A little sight adjustment and shootin' out the center consistently!

I had issues with the Montecs attempting to get them to fly straight.  I couldn't get them to group consistently at all at first.  A lot of messing around with the bow and arrows got them to fly right, but what a pain in the A**!  They worked well, killed a deer, and an impala and a couple monkeys, when I went to Africa.

I'm not impressed with their SS one piece heads though.  They don't resharpen worth a hoot, and if you get a nick or bend the point they're never the same.  They were never sharp enough for my liking though.  Also I had one break after making a bad shot on a deer, shot him in the spine.  I know, spine shots are hard on broadheads, but testing all my new broadheads on 3/4 plywood, this is the first that broke on me.  Maybe just a fluke though...

That said, replaceable blades are sooooo nice ;D Easy to re-sharpen!  ;)

I have to ask? Why would you even try to group Broadheads?  :dunno:  The damage that could result isn't worth it. Shooting Broadheads at seperate dots works a lot cheaper. You can still see how consistant they strike.
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

I shoot the SaberMaxx broadheads and they fly damn near identical to my 100gr field points. http://www.ospsabermaxx.com/

They also create a VICIOUS wound. Deer don't run very far after getting hit with one of those!

Ultimate steel, very similar to the wasp.  I rotate with my field tip and can't see a difference. :twocents:

I see nothing in the regs that states serrated blades are illegal. Care to point it out to me?

My only thought on those SaberMaxx heads would be the ring.  The regs clearly state the the blade must angle towards the back of the arrow.

If you want to get your broadheads to fly like your field tips you have to do 2 things.  1...tune your bow to do so.  I have been shooting and tuning my own bow for several years and only ventured into this last year (trying to get broadheads to shoot the same as field points) and it took a bit of tweaking with the nock point and arrow rest.  However they both hit the same from 10 yards out to 100 and I am sure beyond if I was to try.  2....spin your arrows and make sure that your broadheads are properly aligned.  If you do both of these things you will hit the same spot with both points.  I am sure enough on this information for you that I am willing to bet my bow that I can take the cheapest broadheads from wal-mart and make them hit the same spot as the arrows with the field tips!  Best of luck!

I agree with fishwhacker.  I've used many different types of broadheads.  If your bow is tuned properly, they will hit the same point of impact.  However, I have found some are less prone to other factors.  Currently, I use 125gr Magnus Buzzcut 4 blades and G5 Strikers.  As long as the bow is in tune, they both stay on target and have exceptional penetration.  Complete pass through on Elk, deer and bear for the past several years!

Well - for once I get to give input on this subject.  I had my bow tuned this year and changed rests by Whitetail plus in Deer Park with alwinearcher's help.  This is the first year that I didn't have to make adjustments to my sight, rest, nock point or otherwise.  I am so elated that my field points and broadheads are hitting in the same spot.  The guy running the bow still has some practice to do, but 3-4 inch group at 40 yards with broadheads is better than I have ever done in the past.

You are all right, I had to read it a couple times. But you are right serrated is good to go.  Sorry for my confusion.

It is unlawful to hunt big game animals with
a broadhead blade unless the broadhead
is unbarbed and completely closed at
the back end of the blade or blades by
a smooth, unbroken surface starting at
maximum blade width and forming a
smooth line toward the feather end of the
shaft and such line does not angle toward
the point.
