Public land near Leavenworth

I've heard there is (or used to be) some decent deer hunting just north east of Leavenworth off of Chumstick rd. Looks like some development has popped up there according to google maps though. Anybody know if there is public access land in that area?

Down low is mostly private, there is some National Forest land with higher elevations.

Chrisb:  Your not going to get anything but B.S. from most of us because we like to protect our spots.  You don't sound like a threat to me so here is some info that may be helpful:
1.  There is a good amount of recreational development low in the valley; close to the river.  That development has some impact on the winter range but not on hunter access because all of the ownership are small lots.
2.  Nearly all of the Chiwawa River and Entiat Mountains are managed by the Forest Service and access is open to the public (we own it).
3.  There is getting to be more local deer spending the summer in the 94 burn where browse is good.  It use to be that nearly all of the deer migrated farther back into the high country but now you can actually find mule deer in October at under 4000 feet.

Don't worry; you will not find NO HUNTING signs or locked gates.

I'm not looking for spots just don't want to make the drive to find out it's all private land with no hunting signs. Thanks for the info!

The thing you got to remember about Chiwawa, White River, Little Wenatchee is that down low there is plenty of slide alder so it's thick. Like anywhere else there are local deer there but mostly it is a migration area. You just have to check it out and get to know it. Lots of road hunters that just sit on the little old clearcuts which are growing up heavily now that minimal logging is being done.

Everything down low off the Chumstick Rd. itself is private, but there are several roads that quickly get you into the national forest to the north.  Once you're a couple miles back in, most everything is public.  As mentioned, these are primarily migration animals, so you won't see much until it snows.

I bowhunted it for four days a couple of years ago, I saw several legal bucks. There is lots of National Forest up there.You can get in on either Eagle Creek rd or Second Creek rd, both are off of Chumstick rd.

Tons of area to hunt and a lot of deer if your willing to hike.  Lots of really steep county.  You can also get to that area off the entiat river side (mad river rd, mills canyon, etc.)  all those roads conect, make sure you have a good forest service map and spotting scope.

  I rode the DIRTYFACE Dualsport ride this year.  There is alot of good looking ground from fish lake, Lake Wenatchee area all the way to ardenvoir? On the Eniat River.  Very cool around Sugarloaf Lookout.  Had a bear run in front of us.  Lots of forest service roads, and bike trails.
