Stampead pass
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:09:50 PM »
Has anyone here been doimg any scouting up in the stampead pass area for archery elk? I have never hunted up there and a buddy and i have been doing a bit of scouting up there and have seen a few animals. Is there much pressure during the archery season. just wondering if anyone else has been seeing much. Saw a few others up there looking. Any tips on this unit would be greatly appreciated.

There can be alot of guys in there but there is always areas that are good. Like most will say get away from roads. Also be aware that there are some jerks around there. I have run into guys who like to block the roads because they think they own the whole place.  Good luck to you.

If you can avoid being killed by the road or on the road, there are some great elk up there.

It is a great unit to hunt.  I would start somewhere near the town of Lester, borders the Green River Watershed area.
