530 Rino HCX Or Garmin 60csx
« on: August 29, 2010, 01:34:13 PM »
I am looking to buy a new gps and it seems with all the searches I have done the Rino and the 60csx stand out. No one in our camp uses a gps other than me, but we do use radio's to let each other know if there is a animal down or if someone is heading back to camp. Will the Rino work with the motorolla radio's or any other walkie talkie? If they wont' work with other radio's then I'm thinking about going with the 60csx.
Is there better mapping or other features that the Rino would give me over the csx? Any opinions welcome.

The rino will work with the other radios but dont get either you mentioned. Get the Oregon 450t, way way better! I had the 530 and took it back for the Oregon and am sooo happy I did! :twocents:

I have the 60csx and a 130 rino, both are good gps units, the 60csx is better than my rino.  I have ne'er use the Oregon but I love my 60csx!

I have the 530hcx and love it with the 1:24k Topo maps.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I have both a 520 and a 530HCX and love the HCX. I like the feature being able to drop in map chip when I go to Canada. :twocents:

The Rino will work with other radios without a problem.  I really like my 530  but if no one else in camp is using one it is probably not worth the money unless you like the idea of carrying just one piece of electronics.  The gps has worked well for me.

I got the 530 HCX and love it.  All of the people I hunt with have them as well and it makes keeping track of each other really easy.  Having a walkie and a gps in one is extremely convenient.  I got mine with the map program and a 2MB card for under $400 through www.pcnation.com.  Not sure if they still carry them, but was way cheaper than anywhere else I could find and it was free shipping.  It allows for saving tons of waypoints.  I have tons of custom maps saved on my card and can load them up anytime I want.  Not sure about the others people have suggested, but I don't think you can go wrong with the 530 HCX.

Unless you have friends with Rinos I would get the 60 and a separate radio.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.
