I sitting here staring out the window looking at the guys steelheading, wishing I was outside.  Gonna head out tonite and see if I can scare up a few.  Told the boys that if they are home from sports practice and homework is done I'll drag them along.

Oldest boy and I went after I got home.  Saw 4 and got 1.  Forgot the camera in the rig and by the time we got back it was dark so we didn't take any pics.

We got a downpour about 30 minutes before we went up the mountain.  Our "dusting spots" were all mudholes.  all we got  was a muddy truck... :(

I got out yesterday afternoon and was able to hunt for about 4 hours. I was up at Mica peak and didn't see one grouse. All i saw was a single hen turkey. I hope to get out again on sunday. Good luck!

Well, good for you guys.  I spent the whole weekend driving gravel roads in the Blues picking huckleberries, scouting, cutting firewood, etc... Not a single bird.  They are basically non-existant in the Blues this year. :'( :( :(

Looking to get some details on some eastside (Redmond area) grouse areas. Is the old Snoq. tree farm open to hunt since it changed hands??

whats a good choke to use for grouse? im gonna take the 12 out...

ive never hunted with my dog before so its going to be an interesting oppertunity.... i usually get em with my 10/22 but now that i have a dog i figure it would be the right time to get out the shotgun...my vizsla is 10 months old and its gonna be his first hunt so only god knows whats gonna happen..... he hasnt got retrieving down 100% yet and still plays the hyper puppy bs games, but he points and flushes quail well enough i figure why not give it a try.... im gonna have an extra set of hands..... im going up to the baker area for 4 days tomorrow night to go grousin and fly fishing.... 4 day cast and blast!! :IBCOOL:
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I am looking forward to taking my 12 year old daughter grouse hunting soon she just passed hunters Ed and is no longer afraid of the recoil from her Rossi 20 gauge I bought her last year. She did the hunters education deferral last season, but was afraid of the recoil but shes good to go now. We have really not seen very many grouse this year while we have been bear hunting ,not sure why ,maybe the weird summer we had.
