Horn Color?

Went out to check my trail cam last night. it was out for just over a week and every day there were cows on it!!! After grabbing the cam and walking back to the truck saw an 5x6 bull. I don't think he ever saw us or smell cuz the wind was in our face, but his horns were really pail looking. to me they reminded me of a elk skull that has been sun bleached. I just figured that they would be alot darker than that. Well regardless of horn color he is in my spot and we only have 4 days left till opener, hopfully you guys get to see a up close picture of him with me holding up the pail horns!!!!

The antlers are bone white once the velvet dries and falls off.  The color the antler gets is from the dried blood and all the thrashing, scrapping, digging and rubbing the bull does to work off all that maleness.

All the color I believe comes from dirt, sap and such. I've shot a couple of bucks just coming out of velvet. Once you take all the velvet off the antlers are kind of a gray/white and moist. Once they dry they're bone white and will darken with just about anything you put on them, blood, dirt, etc.
