Why do we constantly bash other hunters for hunting within the confines of the law but for not doing it "our" way. I'm guilty of doing it myself from time to time, but we have to remember that if it's not illegal then:

1. They aren't doing anything wrong and the bickering back and forth is just segregating the hunting community from itself and..
2. If road hunters supposedly don't kill anything them let them stay on the road and leave more animals in the field for those who do get out of the truck.

No I wasn't the guy calling from the truck, i don't even elk hunt. I hear on this forum so many times how the gov't is taking away this or taking away that from us as hunters but then we get on here and flame each other for they way some chose to hunt? Geez i wonder why it's so easy for the WDFW to keep taking from us, we can't even stick together amongst ourselves.

Off my soapbox now thanks for reading.

Isn't this why we all attempt to find hunting partners that hunt the same way.  Matching style and strategy.  I'm not a road hunter myself but I imagine there wouldn't be any if it didn't work out often enough.

really!!!! Been hunting there since forever it seems,I cant remember road hunting once..Yes there is some road hunters there..But many do hunt by bike and ankle express..Most the road hunters so far this year have been archers, its funny....There is 1200 permitees in there and a lot of road to travel just to get to some areas. If the road hunters are bothering you might need to get off the road :chuckle:

where is hancock  I dont want to go near there if thats the case.

I wish they were all road hunters. That would leave all of the woods for me. :chuckle:

I hate setting up in an area in the woods and running into someone there. Does not happen very often. I have watched many animals just out of sight from the roads and not get spooked if they think that the people in the vehicles can not see them.

Hey Cornfed. Do you know Billbo? This is hilarious. Who the hell do people think they are, to tell someone how to hunt? I know I have posted on this subject before, and I'll say the same. I personally don't enjoy road hunting. It seems to "cheapen" the experience, at least for ME. That being said, I have killed a few animals via 'road hunting'. Either coming or going to a hunting spot, or just by taking a drive in the woods during a downpour. Oh, and some people don't have a choice. Should those people stay home and not hunt?
Another thing. These same people are the ones that think that you have to get 10 miles off of a road to see game. Yea right! I killed a 180+ inch buck riding down an old two track on my atv on my way to a hunting spot. Some of the biggest bulls and bucks i've seen have been from, or near a road.
How the hell do these people see so many road hunters, when they're out in the brush five miles?  How would this affect their hunting? Do we have some closet road hunters on here? :dunno: Don't be afraid, come on out you roadhuntaphobes! Happy hunting. Happy road hunting too! :chuckle:

As I've gotten older, my love of the outdoors hasn't changed, but my methods of enjoying it have.  I look at hills I used to run up and down and think "No Way!"  Just because you can get 10 miles off a road doesn't guarantee success.  Years ago I walked 6 miles hunting Chukars, and never saw one bird.  I got back to the truck and bumped the horn button as I was getting in, and 50 or 60 Chukars erupted from the brush in front of my truck!  :chuckle:

:yeah:  X's 2, I hate to say it but yes I'm probably going to end up taking up roadhunting years down the road but I'm going to hike in for as long as I can.

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
