Do you Stay and Hunt or do you move on?

I have been tracking a heard of elk above Wilkeson, and while they have been moving on and up to higher elevation I came across a ton of postings, No treaspassing. The area that I have been tracking the elk are under powerlines and have postings all up and down the area. The wooded areas do not have any postings and I have seen a lot of sign. My schedule has not been what I have expected it to be at this time of year, so it has been hard to get out or I would be out in the field as we speak. The question is Should I hunt the wooded areas and stay out of the posting areas or should I move on and leave the area? It's pretty hard to leave the area when all you are trying to do is fill the freezer with meat. There are not a lot of houses in the area and I also think it's a deterrent for hunters. What are your thoughts?

If it is Public or state land or you have permission to hunt the posted land stay and hunt. If you are not sure if it is public/state land...find out or move on. Land does not have to be posted for you to be tresspassing. Do some homework and make sure it's ok to hunt. just my

If your legal stay and hunt. If not you will have to find a new spot. Either way good luck i have seen some bulls up there when i'm camping

that is a decent area, just be careful where you are going, ALOT of the property up there is private land and not posted, i grew up there and there are elk, like you said you can find sign and track them, but its hard to put all of the pieces together, being most of the land is owned, either by private land owners or Hancock/kapowsin/champion, its constantly changing hands lol, you dont have to tell me exactly where but how far out of Wilkeson are you going?

I've been right out on town off of Wilkeson Spiketon Rd. If you follow that road you come to the power line road I've been tracking them going East towards S Prairie creek road or NFD Rd7710. They have down low but seem to move back and forth. The weather has been so inconsitant it's hard to tell what they will do next. I'm going out on Monday morning to find them and the hopes of bringing home a cow so that I can go set up on some BT Bucks, unless I run into one while searching for the elk!

Definitely do some map research and be positive you're in an area you can hunt.  You don't wanna ruin your prize of bringing an elk down to get busted for unknowingly breaking the law.  It's your responsibility to know if you can hunt there.  Otherwise good luck in bringing one down.

I know WA is working on a Cadastral website.  If it is up and running it will show you all private properties, who owns them with contact information, what the property is worth to include tax value and even contact information.  Try doing a search for it.  If you want to see an example you can look at the MT Cadastral.  For those interested in OR don't waste your time, there is nothing in the works.  If the WA Cadastral isn't up, go to the local county courthouse for the records.  You can find everything you need to know there.
