Need a bull!
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:18:28 PM »
Guys,

Need a favor..Anyone that has any good info on an easy bull down in the Blues..this weekend that could be shot by a handicapped hunter.  This hunter doesn't have very long and he is wanting to shoot a bull.  My buddy is down there right now trying to get him one.  He has an any bull tag for any unit!  He is in a wheel chair with oxygen..maybe someone knows an easy field hunt and could point them in the right direction..doesn't have to be a trophy or giant..It isn't about the size at this point..any help would be appreciated.  PM me if you would and I can get you in touch with hunting party.

Thanks.

there's a recent thread on here offering to show someone a good bull in 154, most of 154 is hard hunting but might be worth contacting him   http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,56139.0.html

He is using a gun..the WDFW gives out permit to a terminally ill hunter every year..apparrently..He is having a hard time and my bud is trying to get him on one tonight..but it is tough.  The hunter is very ill and it is taking a lot of his strength to be out there.  Pasco kid thanks for that link..I sent that guy a PM and email this AM when I saw it.  My bud said its tough hunting the elk are just starting to get rutty..but not all of them..and we all know elk hunting is rarely easy..so it is a big task they have this weekend.  Thanks for the thoughts and pray he gets his bull!   It is a very emotional hunt..for the father.

Thanks a lot guys..the family is from the Deer Park Area.  I just talked with my bud..they have two bulls spotted one a 350" that they are going after tonight and then they have a 310 bull in a hay meadow on another spot.  I thought he was in a wheel chair but he isn't he is to weak.he is shooting from the vehicle.  I am praying really hard that 350" bull steps out in the field this evening.  My bud is videoing the event..Thank all of you guys for your wishes.

JimKD8 - I won't we going down to join them..I am tied up..anyways thanks for the offer..I did clean out part of my message box.

I've seen one of the bulls their after in 154 I hope he gets a chance at him cause he's a dandy, he's in a pretty good spot because there are county roads on top and up the bottom and most of the area is ffth it's   just a matter of finding him close enough to one of those roads for a shot, cause from the sounds of it this fella's not going to be doing any hiking and this is steep country.  Can't wait to hear an update.

I have informed my family from Waitsburg & Dayton area, they are passing the word around.

Most of their land doesnt have elk on it at the moment , but they are checking with others.

I will be over there this weekend and will keep checking the site.

Lets get this guy an elk

Hey everyone..well no elk.  The hunter had to go back home for awhile..it is really tough.  First I want to thank all of you who have offered assistance with this hunt.  Incredible group of hunters we have here.  Thanks.

Well they had cows mewing, bulls fighting, bulls bugling, last night the big bull was at 400 yds..hunter couldn't get him in scope.  It was very difficult..his brothers and father could have killed it for him but they wanted him too do it.  This mornings hunt was going good but some other hunters who have permission.. showed up and I guess the elk blew out of the field.  They are hoping to be back next week after some recharging.

Again..thanks to all of you guys for the assistance with this. Pascokid ,JimKD8, Jackelope, and others thanks for all of the awesome offers you gave up...it is great to know that the human spirit is alive and well.  My buddy couldn't beleive all of the offers..word really spread fast..All I can say is WOW!  You guys rock!  Thanks again for everything!

Definitely keep us updated on this Yelp.  This really got me to thinking again about what's important in life.  I'll keep this hunter in my thoughts in the coming weeks as I am in the field myself.  It's stories like this that remind us all to make the most of what little time we have hunting in the field and making the most of life in general.

I will be over on the 10th to scout the wenaha and will have my pack. If packers are needed pm me before Friday and I will send my number. I would love to help pack meat. There are four of us coming and all of us would jump in and pack to make it quick and easy. Good luck and I am excited to see how this turns out.
