Arrow Spine
« on: September 10, 2010, 03:40:27 PM »
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I would like to start by saying thank-you.  I just found this forum a few days ago and have been hooked since!!!!

I have been working on trying to tune my own bow this year using the bare shaft method.  I seem to be having good results and have been able to reduce the size of my groups by fine tuning.  But when shooting the bare shaft it keeps hitting to the left by about 8" @ 15-20yds.  I have tried changing the field point from 100gr to 125gr, I have also increased the poundage on my bow.  Neither of these two changes seem to affect the bare shaft arrow.  Below is a list of my equipment and specs.

Bow: Hoyt Trykon 28" Draw 60-70lb Currently set for about 68lb
Rest: Trophy Taker Extreme FC
Release: Scott Little Bitty Goose
Arrow: Beman ICS Hunter 400 cut to 28"

From everything I've research this arrow should be a little on the weak side.  So to say the least I am frustrated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

That arrow is definately too weak, but I understand your confusion.  It should shoot to the right for a right handed shooter. :dunno:  Try some 340 spined arrows.  I also think the paper test is a better tool for release shooters. :twocents:
Hunt hard and shoot straight!
