A very versatile round....you can get 100gr solids for varmint....168gr for tack driving...180gr (or 200gr) for taking any big game in North America.  factory loads have 90% of the power of a 30-06 and with hand loads you can exceed that.  I love em....I have 2, a G3 assault rifle and a savage 10FP with accu-trigger<-----awesome shooter.

My new baby - RFB bullpup  308    also have a Browning lever action 308   both great guns !

 :)Underrated???probably the most widely used sniper cartridge ever, 100's of long range matches, tons of research, proably more match quality rifles built in 308 than any other. It is one of the all time greats.

I have one and so does my dad. Both are Remington 788's and both shoot exceptional groups (exceptional to me at least) with factory ammunition. The only derivative I have shot is the .243 and I love that one too. I would like to shoot both the .260 and 7mm08. Man I need more guns!

Same gun as mine I've had for almost 20 years now and wouldn't trade it for any of my others including my savage 110 7mm.  It will drive tracks at 200 yards with 170gr Remington corelocks
