3 legged bear
« on: September 04, 2010, 10:07:47 AM »
shot him yesterday afternoon...wife seen him and said she thought he was limping.  cabled him out to the road and saw his right front leg was missing below the knee.  It had been gone for some time as it had caloused over.  wish I had an exciting story to tell but sometimes better to be lucky than good.  this is the 4th bear i've killed and she has been with me for every one....have to take her more i guess.  looking to maybe have a 1/2 mount where his front legs are up to show off his missing leg.  some size comparison I'm 6'2" and she is 5'11"

My little bros first bear two years ago was a three legged bear! Sounds similar to yours, between the shoulder and the knee, all gone, caloused up, with hair on it. He had a mean left hook though! He got a half mount, its pretty sweet.

Congrats!

Thats a nice bear. They are definitely survivors!!

Was he castrated, blind, and half deaf and went by the name "Lucky"  ????   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Kidding aside, nice bear.  Way to go.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Good job on the bear, and good job having the lady with good eyes to spot them!
Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.

kudos to the wife for doing all that she does....she's shot a lot of deer with her bow but had eye surgery recently and feels she's not ready to hunt yet....want her to get a bear real bad.....hung him up in my cousins walk in cooler and skinned him last night-the amount of fat on his back was amazing...must have been 4" already...hope thats not an indicator of the winter to come.
