Doe Down

My hunt didn't start out on the best note. I forgot my head lamp and had to hike in a mile with my key light. That was pretty interesting. It took me 45 min to get in the tree. At 0730 I harvested a blacktail doe yesterday morning. She was the only deer I saw from my climber. I heard quite a few, just couldn't see them in the brush. I first caught a glimpse of her at moving down the ridge at 52 yards. I lost sight of her but could hear her browsing on the side of the ridge moving towards me. About 30 min later she walked in front of my stand. I couldn't pass up the shot. I drew back and stopped her with a bleat. She was quartering away from me and I aimed for the far shoulder. Right before I shot she turned to the left. I nailed her at 22 yards. I was worried about the shot cuz she turned on me. She ran down the hill about 40 yards and fell over. I dragged her up the hill onto the trail and cleaned her out. She was covered in ticks. I hate ticks. Luckily I didn't get any. By the time I got her gutted out I had 100 mosquito bites. It was worth it though. I tried something new this year and used my daughters 3 wheeled stroller to get my deer out of the woods. It worked very well. Def better than packing her out. First kill with my new setup. I'm very pleased with my stryker broadheads. It's always great to put meat in the freezer. My wife and I celebrated with some bbq'd tenderloins on the grill last night. Now I can focus on harvesting my first elk with a bow.

Some good eats you have there now. Those tenderloins sure sound good right about now. Congrats on a great harvest.

Thanks guys. I grilled up backstraps last night for my birthday party. They were amazing.
Yes that is the exit hole. It wasn't a textook shot. She turned pretty much broadside on right before I squeezed off. I was aiming small at that point. She went down quick though. Easy recovery besides the drag up hill. Destroyed the liver and a little lung.
Here is the stroller pic.

Awwwww! She looks comfy there taking a nap! Awesome pic!
You should send a copy to the stroller company, maybe they can start a new add campaign.
