ruger trigger

i have a ruger m77 mk2 and the trigger is like pulling a truck. Ive been thinking about ordering either the timney or rifle basik from cabelas. Has anyone used/installed either of these which is better. Are they drop in or do you need to modify the rifle/stock. Thanks for any input.

I have a rifle basik in my hawkeye and love love love it way better than the standard ruger trigger and it drops in so easy even a girl could do it

We put a Timney in my M77 MKII .300 win.  Breaks like glass no creep or over travel.  Fully adjustable, worth every penny and then some.

I did my own trigger job on my Ruger.  It is crisp, clean, smooth and breaks like glass.
If you screw it up, buy a Timney or a RB, as that is what you are probably going to do anyway.  Might as well give it a try.  I'd tell you what I did, but then I'm sure I'd get flamed hard.  I should reveal that although this was my first solo trigger job on a Ruger, I did have a gun shop for a few years.

Rifle Basix might as well throw 60 in the toilet timneys, jewels and schilen are the only ones i would trust in the field seen way to many rifle basix fail on budget guns and if your mkII is like most it is light and kicks so spend the money and get a quality one i put the shilen on my new 338 rum from Gunwerks and i love it almost as much as my jewell but half the cost

I put a Timney in my MkII  338 Win mag and it is great. Requires minor fitting of the trigger for the safety but is an east install

I've done a few Timneys.  Pretty simple job.  But like has been said, there's not much you can screw up if you just polish and shorten by a tad, the factory trigger.

You mean to tell me you spent a pile of money on a custom gun then had to add a trigger group to it? I would think that for all the money a guy pays for a Gunwerks gun they'd have a good trigger in them out of the box. Talk about throwing money in the toilet.    That ain't saying much for those rifles.

As far as the Ruger goes...I had a Ruger m77 mkII and had a local smith do the trigger for me. Cost me 50 bones with no parts needed and it turned out pretty dang nice I  think.

could be wrong but I thought he meant he bought a Shilen from gunwerks and put it on his 338.
I have used timneys and have always had good luck with 'em, easy to install and if you order it direct you can tell them what weight of pull you want & it will be set when you get it.

Do it yourself....

Rugers have about the easiest trigger to work on! remove one pin and the trigger pops out and the spring is all you have to worry about.
 
A little sanding and polishing and tightening of an allen screw and im sure itll be nice, smooth, crisp trigger...ill see if i can find the picture...

Ive done it to two ruger M77 and it works! And best of all..its free! lol

there X gunsmith and i have been very close friends since we were kids he built the rifle and talked me into the schillin it costs half of the jewel he put on my 264 and at the time i was building the gun i was on a budget but needed it for the Brown bear hunt i was going on.  FYI there guns are know chit since he left with BOTW when the two companys split.  gunwerks has some kid fresh out of school running the lathe know.

FOUND IT, FOUND IT!

like i said...slightly sand and polish the engaging points as you can see in the picture.....a little goes a long ways...if you can see that your removing metal...than test it...if your not sure...then wait and if we get together some time i can do it in about 5 minutes....but the image should show everything you need to know...

I put Timney triggers in all my guns (except my savage...accu-trigger works too good).  I have had canjar and jewell before, but for the $$$ hard to beat a Timney.
