Got another bear on the Moultrie
« on: September 06, 2010, 05:29:53 PM »
Had the camera set up for deer. Didn't get a lot of pictures, a doe w/fawn, a coyote, and a bear. Not the best picture but the bear appears to have a collar. What do you think?

Sure looks like a collar to me.

A collared bear! Do you think it was relocated out to your spot, or are you close to a pick-inick area? Are problem bears common in that area?

I know the WDFW has been studying the bears for several years now out there, and that they trap and collar bears so they can keep track of their movements. To me the bear looks small but I thought if I had the chance I might shoot it just so I could get the information about it's age and where it was trapped, etc.

I won't be hunting bears in there, but will be deer hunting during the early muzzleloader season, so if I get a chance at that bear I MAY take him, but then again I may not, because I'm not sure I want to pack a bear out of there. It's all uphill back to the road, and about a mile.

There is a second picture of the coyote, taken just seconds after the first one. It seems that the camera spooked it for some reason.   :dunno:

How far is that from where I took the pic of a collared sow? Wonder if it could be the same one?
You may call the bio, tell them the location and ask some particulars?

About 8 miles to the southwest. I'd be surprised if it was the same bear, but it's possible.
