Leupold RX 1000 TBR Rangefinder?

Looking for a new rangefinder was settled on the Leica CRF 1200, but I checked out the Leupold RX 1000 TBR at Wholesale sports today seems to be good just wondering if anyone has one or any opinions? Sitting on the fence now

Love mine!  Super light transmission - way better than my last two Bushnells.  Some complain about seeing the red numbers in mid day but I haven't had any problems at all.  I was able to range sage brush on the other side of the canyon from my house and pulled up 850 yards, and got a tree this weekend while hunting at 956 yards.  Cool TBR feature for both bow and rifle.  Probably one of the best purchases I have ever made for the dollar.

I have the Leica 900 and like it. I must say that some sort of angle compensation would be nice, though.  I haven't looked through this particular Leupold, but the ones I did see in the store were notably dimmer even in store light.  What would be best is to strike up a conversation with the guy behind the counter, and see if he can walk with you out to the front of the store with you near dusk, and you could do a side-by-side comparison. 

Also, a big plus for Leupold is their world class customer service.  I haven't heard the same for Leica.

Don't know if I got a melon or what, but my leupold rangefinder isn't very good.  Had an old Bushnell rangefinder that was a lot better at picking up distances than my leupold.  Sure the Leupold has better glass and TBR but the signal strength in mine is disapointing and I personally don't care for all the toggleing through the settings on the leupold.  I've had trouble picking up targets only a couple hundred yards out.  I like simplicity, go with the lieca if you can, my buddy can get good signal on just about any target within range.

It seems the lesson in rangefinders is: if you buy cheap, you're going to buy twice.

I have the rx750 and I like it well enough. With practice and the right settings it can be VERY quick to look through and know where to hold (+/- so many inches). The only complaint that I have is that the numbers in the bottom corner of the display (angle, LOS distance, and something else I think) can be difficult to read - especially in low light.

I have a CRF 1200 and have used it side by side with my buddy's Leupold and like Bob33 said, the Leica is better in every way.  It ranged farther, it had much better glass, the display was better, and it was just easier to use.  My buddy sold his leupold and bought a leica.  If I were you, I would just buy the CRF 1200 to start with (or the new CRF 1600) and be happy!

Sounds like we have the same Leupold rangefinder....I believe mine is the RX-ii.  Mine has a hard time picking up targets at even close range, and toggling through all the settings is a pain in the arse.  I'd rather have the straightforward Leica that just tells you the distance every time you hit the button.  For $300+, it should be better.

i have the luepold RXII now what i think they are calling the rx750, and 750 my --- only time it got close to 750 was when i ranged the side of a sheet metal shop that was perfectly broadside to me, 747. the rxII does ok with objects in bow range rifle range i sometimes have to range and object twice, my buddy has the lieca 900 he loves it ive used it on a couple of our hunting trips and that thing is sweet, instant range on the first shot have ranged objects well past the 900 mark just an all around better piece of equipment in my opinion.

go with the lieca if you have the means
