2 Guys in Black Ranger on Hwy 20
« on: September 07, 2010, 07:15:59 AM »
Yesterday, Monday, I met 2 guys on top of the pass about 11:30am.  I pulled over to glass a big meadow and they had beat me there and spotted a BIG bear 2/3 of the way up.  He was every bit of a 6 footer but probably bigger.  They took off after him and didn't see them again.  I hope you got him.  I was so jeallous as I had my wife and 2 y/o daughter with me and probably couldn't go for him  :bash:

We had a good weekend in Winthrop.  Saw a few legal bucks in my honey hole and limited on some big Blue Grouse every day.
I hunt therefore I am.

You actually entertained the thought?    You're a bigger man than me. I'd have got my ass kicked for even thinking about it!  :dunno:

I did see a young bear cross the highway in front of me a week ago Sunday. Just about mid way down the hill coming west from Washington pass. He would have been big for a cub. Certainly weened. The weather had just turned to crap so I didn't stick around to see if there were any others around.

Was it too steep for them or did the bear spook?  I know they didn't have crampons because I asked them.  I wouldn't have gone after him without them.  I was going to offer them mine so at least the shooter could get close to him, but then I would be out $75.
