Danner has really gone down hill, especially the lower lines, they're just crap.  I have a pair of Matterhorns that I wear from my Navy days.  Great boots- durable, comfy and I've never gotten wet in them.  They're hard to find, though, since I can't get on Fort Lewis anymore.  NExt pair will probably be Kenetreks.

Stick with the all leather models of the Danners. I wear the Rainforest or Quarry models and they have never let me down with proper care. I tried the Pronghorns but they only lasted for about 8 months. I wear my boots all day almost everyday and don't wear anything but Danner.

Their low end boots (under $200) are made in China while their upper end boots are made here in the USA which may explain the quality issues.  I wear Danner because they are comfortable but had to get a new pair (pronghorn) after wearing them in the rain last hunting season.  The employees of Danner will tell you to constantly clean and treat your boots w/ a water proofing spray which will help them last.  I'm going to do that on my brand new pair just to ensure that I don't have wet feet on my upcoming hunt this year.

Oh, I've also got 2 pair of super rainforest's under my desk that each made it 6 months before they started leaking, then another six months before they started falling apart.

These are made in China, big surprise. I got the typical, send them in and we'll take a look response. So now I have to pay for shipping and lose out on using them just so they can tell me what I already told them... they suck.

well known facts...

Danners made in China will leak over time, we care more about quality than they do.
with that said, the pronghorns and my feet get along great, light and comfortable. As long as they keep replacing mine I'll stick to them.

When i can't replace mine for free then it'll be the Kentreks.

If you buy the lower end made in China Danner's then they will start to leak over time, they are not as good of quality as the made in the USA boots. I have worn Danner boots since high school. i wear them for work and for hunting. I have never owned any of their hunting boots. I just wear my work boots hunting. I like the super rainforrest. Might try the Danner Foreman's if i can find them.

This really bites, I am looking for a new pair of cold weather boots and was leaning towards another pair of Danner's since my last pair lasted almost 8 years! They were absolutely hammered to the point that my boss demanded that I stop wearing them to work (lol) but they were still comfortable and never leaked.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I bought a pair of Danner Quarry boots and they sucked like a two dollar whore!! Friggin uncomfortable, squeaky and leaked after 8 months. You couldn't give me another pair of Danners. Back to my high end Red Wings. Comfortable from day one and took over two years before they would leak a little. And I work outside everyday in the ditch. Awesome boot. Cost about $269.00 now.
