Finely settling in
« on: July 14, 2010, 03:09:44 PM »
I have been in south Dakota for almost 2 months now.  I droped my dog off with a trainer last week and just got an update.  Chase (my GSP) is doing great.  He should be done just before hunting season starts.  I am really looking forward to getting into some birds.

I would love to hear a report when you get your dog back.  I'm sure the wife would never let our GSP go for that long  :P

One.

Where is your pup in S. Dakota?  My pup just got to Winner this week.  She will be there until mid Sept and then be on the trial circuit for a month or two.  I just talked to the trainer today and he said there are a lot of birds around his camp near winner.  IMO, there is simply no way to put a dog on the amount of birds that the trainers in S. Dakota can do in one summer.  Its money well spent.

He is at Misar Kennels in Arlington, about an hour or so noth of Sioux Falls.  and yes my wife was not happy about sending him away for that long but she is taking it like a champ.  Once I get him back I will post some pics.

we are heading up sunday morning to visit Chase (my dog) and start to learn how to handle him with the new training.  He will be coming home begining of September.  Found a guy that I go to school with that has 27 acre just a few minutes away that is going to let me work Chase there and do a bit of hunting on his land also.  Things are starting to look good for this season.

Have fun.  Im heading out to Idel the second weekend in Sept to see my pup run.  Then shes off to trial for a month, then Ill get her home in mid October.  I just got a picture from the trainer last week.  Seems shes coming along nicely and her range keeps getting bigger and bigger.   You won't believe the difference in your pup.  Theres no substitue for the number of birds a dog will see in 1 summer in S.D..  Heres the picture I got of my pup last week.  I can't wait to go see her.
