Camp Sites Near GMU 111
« on: August 24, 2010, 05:23:36 PM »
I am planning a scouting trip for my Three Forks moose hunt and I am looking for a developed camp site pitch a tent.  Most of my scouting will be done in the central to northern portion of 111.  Any recommendations?

Thanks!

i know there's a little campground in Ione with showers etc. but don't remember the name. we just camp off the roads and go to ione or northport for showers when needed. i just googled ione washington campground and got the following:

Mooseeyes,
Edge water in Ione is probably your best bet. There is a hotel Valley Veiw I think its called on top of the hill outside Metaline Falls that you can pitch a tent at. The resorts along the river were closed when I was up there in July, dont think they were opening. Mt Linton Rv Park may be open not sure though.

Edge Water has showers also, It will be a bit of a drive if you are heading to the far north roads but not to bad.  Hope this might help some.
Smoke em when ya see em!

If you know where Big Meadow Lk is there's a one room cabin a mile or so west of the lake that you can stay in. Its got a wood stove & a few other things in it. There is a donation box at entrance to put a couple bucks in. Basically if nobody is in it its all yours but I think 4-5 days ya gotta leave. I've used it a few times & it worked out great.

Looks like Edgewater closes after Labor Day so that may not be an option.  There seem to be plenty of places on LPONWR and in the Colville National forest.  Hopefully I will pull into town well before dark so I can find a spot and set up.

Thanks.

This is kinda funny how small the world is sometimes. You won't be dissapointed if you head up to Ralph's. Easy to find and it puts you in some great moose habitat. My property is only about 4 or 5 miles up the road from Ralph Lott's place and have known him for some time. My parents stayed there a few times while I was building my cabin.

In my opinion you won't find a better place to stay. Let me know if you go up that way and I will tell you about an area you may want to check out. We have seen a "few nice moose" in the area over the years. I know you have the tag so I'll throw out a few bones. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any questions about that area up there.
