Thanks guys, small but meat in the freezer, my 14th Wash State Bull, and 13th branched antlered..

And the story goes like this: We found the herd early in the morning and made plans to get on them. The elk actually did exactly what we wanted them to do (a first) but we screwed it up (not a first)  :chuckle:. After blowing our plans we split up and started in on them and working the big timber they went into. We worked the area for 2-3 hours and finally I heard them running (buddy spooked them) and made a mad dash to get in front of them. I couldn't hear them so I crept up and peaked over a small rise and could see one feeding at 40 yards. I waited for the head to come up and thought it was a spike till I looked really close and could see eye guards and a tine on one side. I put my 40 yard pin tight on the shoulder and squeezed the trigger. The arrow looked good and made that unmistakable thud, but the elk only took 4 steps and stopped behind some brush and looked around while his buddies hauled butt out of there. I tried to get anouther arrow through the brush but it deflected and hit a tree, he then started walking directly away from me. I moved a few steps to get a clear view, drew back again, putting my 50 yard pin on his O-Ring, and let it go. The arrow hit him good and went the length of him. He went about 75 yards and that was it. The 1st arrow went in tight behind his shoulder and came out behind the last rib on the other side (blew right through him), 2nd arrow went into his arse and into his pump room. All my gear worked good, used a Rytera Nemesis, 70 lbs. ACC Arrows, SpotHogg Sight, Wasp Boss Bullet Broadheads.

Good luck to the rest of you this year!

Good hunt.  It  has to feel great to close the gap after a spook.
Take your kids and train your future competition.

I saw one that looked very close off the 520/516 rd.  Good job.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Thanks 400, the bow is awesome. Martin actualluy makes Rytera if you didn't know. The Nemesis was new this year and it's a shooter, so this is the 1st animal I've shot with it. It's a pretty radical looking bow, but once you've shot a few arrows through it you'll really like the way it feels. I've shot the Firecats the last 2 years prior and they are good as well, this seems to hold alittle better on target and has less shock after the shot. PM me if you want to know want to know any other details.... ;)  DD
