Hunting Grouse in the middle of the day?
« on: September 11, 2010, 12:39:28 PM »
I have been hitting the gravel roads /creekbeds w/my pup hard. I have bagged 2 nice grouse already and a rabbit last night. I was wanting to go out again today but I wanted your guys input on hunting grouse in the middle of the day. It is 55-60 degrees in the hills. The other day I saw some at 2 o clock in the afternoon along the road... You guys ever see much during the middle of the day?

Thanks for the input, I will post some pics later.

Agree with turkey buster, i have bagged grouse pretty much anytime if the day everyyear, i used to get up at the b-crack of dawn and head out but a few years ago i started going out later (after 9am) and did just as good in all my normal spots, they are birds, they eat, water, grit all day long not just from 6am till 8am, then from 6pm till 8pm. Not sure temp makes a huge difference unless it is a really hot year.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
