Fred, how are they for a family dog?? I am really looking to get a new pup... lab is my standby...but I am exploring other options too...like Springers, Brittanys... Wires... etc...

Well I tell you what, everyone I talk to about this breed just gushes over them as family dogs, more so than alot of the other breeds I researched. They don't hunt as far as the DDs and other pointers, not under foot though, but not nearly as far ranging (for me that was another plus). Really smart and great family pets. What is funny is I've been to Montana Mule Days and last weekend went to Hell's Canyon Mule Days down in Enterprise, OR and I've seen 5 of these dogs as pets/hunting companions at these two events alone. Nice pics and good looking dogs. I went out training with rowdy last weekend and my pup finaly started putting it all together so i know how you feel she is finaly starting to point also
