What are you hunting? Lots of Whitey's, turkey, and grouse. I have been scouting up there, saw lots of deer, lots, and lots. Also, my friend from Hunters has got a lil bit of a bear problem...so, as you can kinda hear...its great! Best of luck, and most importantly, beat the ground, get out! and Best of luck!!
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

We have hunted the late hunt up in that area the last couple of years. Some others we know that have hunted up there for longer say that the hunting has gone dramatically down hill the last few years. My dad got his buck 2 yrs ago. Last year we hunted hard for 4 days and didn't see any legal deer or anyone get one.

Tman and I were up that area today, saw one buck! Not saying that they aren't there, but we saw very little in the short time we were scouting around today. We are going to return to the area and check a few more spots.

It's definitely down from four years ago, but is on the rebound.  Another easy winter or two and we'll be back in business up there!

I agree this year looked to be a rebound for all the areas that got worst of the two heavy winters we had. But its looking like we might have another bad winter. I sure hope not because when the deer are at their normal population up there it makes for great hunting.

What the others have said is right on. Between the bad winters and "Blue Tongue" it's down quite a bit from it's normal potential. We hunt private land over there and we have always gotten our deer. Last year it took a full week for us to fill our tags. First time ever that it has taken that long.

It is a great area to hunt. Good population (even after signifcant winter kill/EHD) and good habitat. The state record typical whitetail was taken near Hunters (James Cartwright buck 200 3/8) in 1992. Things change over 18 years but obviously the genetics and habitat in that area is capable of producing that kind of animal given the right conditions. The story of the James Cartwright buck will be in the December issue of North American Whitetail.
