remington model 760 question
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:36:06 PM »
i have a remington model 760 30-06 pump action left hand, and would like to know if you can buy a kit and change the safety to right hand as i am right hand. Or can you take it to a gun smith and have them do something? I changed the stock already but know need to do the safety.

I'm sure a gunsmith could do it. I think all you would have to do is order a safety for a right hand model 760 and install it. Or you may have to replace the entire trigger assembly. Not sure, but either way it should be possible to get it changed over.

Why did you need to change the stock?  I don't remember there being a cheek piece on those guns?  I would think a gun smith could change over the safety for you.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

My dad was left handed and I put a left safety on a 742 when I gave it to him.  When he got older and it became too heavy for him I gave him a Win 70 Featherweight and switched the 742 safety back to RH befor I sold it.  Shouldn't be a big problem to get yours changed.  Alot of gunsmiths don't like to put left safeties on right guns because if it were to be used by a stranger they would unknowingly be putting the safety off.
