mike, be sure to give a call into concunully too, if they make the jump past the end of the road they will likely end up down there.

good luck, they will turn up soon.

Icicle Outfitters & Guides at Leavenworth/Entiat contacted the Methow Valley outfitters, Washington Outfitters & Guides plus the Okanogan & Methow Valley contacts to let them know about the two mares.  They provided contact information to them (yours and the Vet..
Hopefully, they showed up and find their way back to you Mike.  Wishing you and your horses the best.

Be sure and keep checking back where you were camped, if fed there (grain/hay) they may return.
I  always sweep out old tracks when wanting to check an area for new ones, has helped before.

Good Luck

Wow!  Thanks alot guys for all the suggestions, support and help.  I just returned from there last night.  Nothing!  We worked over the back side of the Mtn.  Saw no tracks.  I think they have moved lower.   We were snowed, rained, hailed and fogged on the entire time.  I am heading back up next Monday-Thursday.  I am going to go up the end of Toats Coulee Rd and take the trail to the Chewuck River.  I am then going up the canyons.  I have a pilot who is going to fly up there on Saturday and Sunday.

I can not believe the amount of people who have stepped up to help.  Pretty cool!  I offered to pay for the pilots gas and he said no way.  He wants to fly anyway.  I am going to owe alot of people when this is over.

BTW, Dr. Cody Ames and his staff at Tonasket Vet have been unbelievable.  They have been huge helps.

Been a long time since I had horses... (yeah I was a kid)  What I remember is that if they don't need to climb, they won't. Even when scared. They'll feed, they'll find water. I remember that if they hear horses, they'll find those horses. I remember when ours got out, you could usually find them at a neighbors place. No mares... Even the geldings would group up.  Food! find food/grasses within a couple mile low land circle of where they ran from. I'm bettin you'll find them there or coming out the same trail you road in on.

This spoken from a true non-horseman. On the west side of the Pasayten last week the ranger had two stray dogs within a few days. Each came out to the trail head after the first storms rolled through. Horses are pretty smart. As much as they don't like to get in that trailer, they do know where the trailer is/was.

Good luck. Hope you find them safe.

Mike,
His name was Chris Marcolin, Land Manager Northeast Region.  Office number 509-684-7474.  I spoke with him on Tuesday afternoon 21st and just happened to ask him if he ran into any stray horses.  He told me a couple horses had come out on the road a couple days prior.  I just figured they had been returned to you, so I did not inquire further.   I did not ask which road, but I spoke with him on the 14 mile road.  Hope this helps, he should have more info as to where the horses were taken.  It is posible maybe the free range rancher has them, I can get you his info or Chris M. also has his info.

That is good info!  I will give him a call first thing tomorrow.  I have had no luck.  I called the DNR dispatch center yesterday but they had no idea what I was talking about.  They were going to do some checking and call me back.  I also have a pilot that was going to lfy it this weekend.  I have not heard back from him yet.  I am working right now but will be making some calls tonight.  If nothing happens I will be headed back over either tomorrow or Tuesday.  I did not realize how much I have spent on this until my wife showed me the credit card bill.  ALmost $1000.00 with gas, lodging meals, maps, etc.  Holy Cow!

Thank you every one.  I will keep you posted.  Some of you probably saw some pics of them back on MM over the years.  I have not spent much time on the sites this year.  Alot of other stuff going on.  BTW I have a Chiwawa deer tag this year.  I will post after that one for sure.

Thanks guys,

Mike Henne
