homebrew beer?

anybody home brew? im in the process of gathering equipment.... but who doesnt love a frosty pint of homebrew?

I have the stuff but haven't done it yet.  I have access to the original Oly recipe from 160+ years go back when it was a micro brew and plan on making a batch some day.

I've brewed over 600 gallons.  Been brewing for close to 20 years now.  If you're anywhere near South King County, Larry's brewing supply in Kent is where to get supplies.  Used to grow my own hops also, until they started to take over the world.

I just started brewing earlier this year. Very tasty. The only thing that sucks is when you run out of beer and you have to wait until the next batch is ready.

any advice for somebody starting thier first batch? i hear "sterile " is god in the land of beer ....

Yes, keeping everything sterile is MANDATORY.  You can buy sterilizer at the brewing supply places or just use a bleach solution.  To get started, pick up some simple ale recipes, they should have them at the supply store.  Lagers are a little trickier as the temperatures for fermentation have to be lower and more controlled.  I would suggest something with not too many ingredients.  You can get more sophisticated later on with different types of yeasts, grain steeping, multiple hop stages, etc.  You can make beer with as few as 4 ingredients.  I would also suggest liquid malts.  They are a little more forgiving to boil-overs versus powdered malt.  PM me if you have any specific questions.  Good luck, once you start brewing you will be hooked.

I have brewed a couple of times and really enjoyed it. You HAVE to sterilize everything or the brew will not ferment. I would recommend buying the pre-made syrup and adding fresh hops instead of boiling your own Barley for the first couple of times, its much easier and will give you an idea on what to expect later on.
