Got woke up....
«
on:
September 17, 2010, 08:19:56 PM »
Not the way I'd like to be woke up. I was sitting there snoozin in the mid day sun (yes, the sun was shining for a bit) and I was taking full advantage of it. Well apparantly while glassing for bucks I dozed off. Then out of no where a bawling sound WOKE me up. A Sow and three cubs came up out of the drainage. The little runt of the litter was leading the way, and ran into me and bawled. He turned and ran and about that time Mom and her other two cubs showed up. I just laid still and she paid no never mind. After she cleared a couple hundred yards, I dug out the P/S for a couple quick shots. Adrenaline rush for sure.

It's the snoring that brings them in. The same thing happened to me with a cougar.

Did it literaly run into you? That would be intese to say the least. When I worked for the forest service a fish biologist woke up from a nap and was staring into the face of a blackie.
The bear took off in a big hurry but that would be a bit spooky.

Don't ya just love the way nature messes with you...
Got a book on Alaska Bear Stories, one of the very old natives made the quip about one attack..Well Charlie shouldn't have been snoring, the bears? they hate snoring...they'll come see...

Awesome. I woke up in my blind elk hunting and found a bob kitty 23 yards behind me!

Yep gutpile, it was at my feet. Probably checking out the snoring as they are curious little *censored*s, and then smelled me.
