welcome to he european world of optics.

i see scopes every time i go on group hunts (zeiss,S&B,Sworo) that are 30+years old and still ticking just fine.

I've been making plans for my next gun i buy in the states. I'm looking at zeiss,Minox, and meopta in the 400-500$ price range unless i can snage a schmidt&bender before i leave.
so is my leupold and nikon both were less then $200 lol and they have been through alot, and if anything happens they will get sent in and replaced.....

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
- Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)

I have two Zeiss Conquest scopes.  ZenRay binoculars and some older steiner big horn binoculars and the windriver sequoia spotting scope.  I am waiting for ZenRay to come out with a spotting scope in order to upgrade.  Very happy with the Zeiss products.

They did come out with a spotting scope :)

Funny - When I posted that in September it hadn't come out yet.  Glad they came out with the ED2 angled spotting scope.  I see that for a smooth $1200 it could be mine today.  I think that I will be saving my pesos and wait for a straight version to come out.  I am in no hurry right now.  That could all change if I were to draw a OIL tag though.

I don't hate Leupold at all - in fact I still have several rifles with Leupys on them.  They are good scopes.

However, if you've looked through European optics you will understand.  I bought Swaro binoculars and have entered a whole new world.

leupold makes a good scope, but peek through a great scope some time and you are ruined. the guy that shoots 40 rounds a year does not need a S&B, but a guy that shoots a lot deserves at least one.

I have had Nikon monarche binos which failed me after 2 years and have had the Leupold Olympic 10x50's and they failed me after 3 months.  I am saving up and not buying anything else until i can buy a pair of swavorski's.  I do have to say though the nikon scope i have is awesome.
