Poachers
« on: September 21, 2010, 07:53:02 AM »
I've been watching 3 bucks all summer for muzzleloader season.  Two four points and a three point that is right at 30 inches wide.  Someone else must have been watching them too, because there are three dead bucks within a half a mile of each other right in the area. They didn't even bother taking the whole head, just sawed off the horns, leaving about 1 to 2 inches of antler still on the deer.   I'll put some pictures up of it later.  Pretty damn pathetic!

The other people that found them before I did reported it.  I was going to call this morning and let them know I have a bunch of pictures of the bucks alive. Just incase the want to use them to know what they are looking for.

The best or I should say worst part is if the local media picks it up it will say HUNTERS poached these animals instead of Criminals poached these animals.   :bash:

No kidding.  Plus WTF is with just taking the antlers and not even the meat?  Not that I'm condoning poaching but its not like regular antlers are like rhino ivory in terms of black market costs or such to illegal shoot an animal just for them alone.

Tell me about it!  I have been out watching and videoing these bucks all summer.  One was a really nice one, upper 20's and possibly 30 inches wide.  I have no way of knowing if it was him for sure, but it was within about 300 yards of the last place I had seen him the week before. I've been planning on being there opening morning of muzzleloader season all summer.  I'd give anything to have whoever did it get caught.  Keep in mind there was three bucks just like this within a mile of each other.

Definately not road kill.  The one the pictures are of was shot right up the ass.  It was on a cut off road between two green wheat fields.  The other two were dropped right beside each other about 150 yards off a road, while they were in the field.  My buddy who knew I had been watching them all summer talked to the game warden and he said they were shot with a big rifle.  I don't really know all the details of who found them first or anything, but when you drove up there it was pretty obvious with all the magpies and coyotes.

That is the trouble with the place I hunt. Too many local poachers! "i got a 6, now im looking for a 5". We went grouse hunting 2 weeks ago and some locals come down a logging road at dusk, guy in the bed of the truck, gun drawn, looking for deer. It is also common for people (not hunters!) with a doe tag in 101, shoot one in 204 (without getting out of the truck) and report that they took it in 101. Or shoot a muley doe, on "accidant" and process it before anyone "notices". I work my ass off to fill my freezer, with pleasure! I cant hardly stand the greed and abuse!

I hate hearing about poachers but I really hate hearing about poacher in the county that I live in and watch deer in all year. Verbeckhunter I am sorry to here about this, same thing happen to me 3 years ago in a nether part of Douglas County and what is weird they did the same thing with the horns but the did take the back straps and the hind quarters. These guys need to be taken out in a green wheat field a shot up the back in and left for the ravens and coyote to be eaten on >:( >:(.  Sorry but I had to let some steam off.
