Score!!!! cant wait for the story.... :)

To say that and follow it up with no pics and no story.........that just isn't right.  That's awesome.

I just got home and finished hanging the elk up at my friend Pauls the one with the permit. We had help from some friends I have met on here as to where to look and where they had seen elk. We went up sunday morning to see where he was to hunt and during the day saw 30 bulls it rained and was foggy so hard to see much way up the 3000 it would blow in and out but we talked to some bow hunters in the toutle. We could;nt go down into his area until monday morning and there were 4 permit hunters at the gate waiting for daylight.  We went down into the bottom and followed another hunter who wanted a big bull and the guy behind us wanted anybull so we did;nt know what to expect. We saw 5 bulls that first drive in but none that we wanted so headed up to the 3000 and fog we went to a spot a guy on here suggested where there was a wallow and there were two five points right in the middle of it that was in the loo wit then it got foggy and we headed back to the forrest learning center to glass. It closes at 5 so you have to walk in and glass the bottom of the mud flow and we spotted some elk coming accross the toutle river about 2 miles away so we headed to the gate and went on a speed run to try to get to them before dark. We had to walk up the river and all the time this bull was screaming and wene we saw him he was 350 yards out on the other side of the river. My boy said if he got him he would swim over so Paul shot hitting him a little far back and had to shoot a couple more times to put him down. Then the fun started my grandson tried to cross but it came up to his chest and he had to come out and my boy tried and he made it across it was about 25 feet wide there and he cleaned the elk and propped it open and had to cross again right at dark he was just beat his sweat pants got soaked with water and weighed alot. We went down this morning and waited for 2 other permit holders to go in before us and both shot there bulls we saw one it was a nice 4 by 5. We got across the river again it had dropped a little in the night and used our rope we had 2000 feet of 9 16th inch crab line out and it took 2 and a half hors to get him to the truck it was a nice 6 by 7 Pauls best elk and he was beyond excited I will get my camera and post pictures. Thanks Jay for your help and bucklucky for helping us it was special.

As you can  see pulling him 2000  feet backwards ruined his cape so now we have to get one rifle season to replace his. The toutle river was chest high and really swift and we felt just to dangerous with a pack on even though we had help offered from site members it just was;nt worth the chance it did;nt hurt the meat it just shaved the hair off.
