So you know him?  Again how does the amount of money someone have make them a "real" hunter or not?

There are hunters, and then there are guys who hire guides to hold there hand.  They are not hunters... IMO.

Sooo everyone who has hired a guide to fish or hunt are non hunters/fisherman???    :bash:

easy boys or this one will get nuked. i do agree that this type of hunt is more of a shoot then a hunt. he only pulls the trigger and pays the bills. but so what its his deal. i have done plenty of guided hunts and since i am a outfitter i have problems with people saying that you are not a hunter if you have a guide. that is just not true. some cases yes like this but just because you use a guide does not mean you can not hunt :bash:

I'm really tired of money bags, and his stupid grin.  A spike is more of a trophy, if you actually hunt it yourself.  What's his money going towards, another face lift for our Gov, Skeletor?

If you need a guide, you aren't a hunter.  IMO

:yeah:Now that's funny.

Ok.  Don't go to a restaurant then, because that means you can't cook.

I thought the skelator remark was funny, not the if you need a guide your not a hunter remark. I did a guided hunt in Canada once, of course it took a couple years to save the money and I would consider myself a real hunter. But I do hear your point.  I heard back when he killed the 08 bull that he flew in the day he shot it, took some pic's and flew out. If that is anywhere near the truth, then he is not a real hunter.

To each his own, in my opinion there is no reason to ever hire a guide... and I never will.   If my opinion offends you, I'm sure your guide will hold you while you cry.  :chuckle:

yep that is right to each there own. i guess you never plan on going to Africa or places were you need to hunt with a licensed p.h or guide just to be able to hunt. or a disabled hunter that hires a guide to get out into the outdoors. not a hunter :bash: i just don't understand the point. if i hire a taxi to drive me to a show, i can't drive :dunno: :chuckle:

Like it or not the shot was made the bull went down and his tag went on it. Seems the man has had success and failure so chances are the tag soup he occasionally may eat is a $40,000 donation. Would ya bi##h about average joe just making a 40k donation to hunting and elk management, my understanding of it is that is pretty much what he does and sometimes he gets a nice trophy for it. :twocents: Congrats to him, awesome bull
For all the haters :cryriver:get over it
I know if i could afford to do it i would be all over it
SEE YA IN THE FIELDS

I've been following the posts here since they started, now I'll put in my comments.  The 2010 bull was shot by Agnew, he had set up a group of Scouts to find bulls for his consideration.  There are 3 licensed Outfitter/Guides in the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness.  A special temporary permit was issued to individual to assist Agnews gov. tag.  They (Agnew/individual) met with the FS to discuss terms, they were set back by the FS but a permit was issued to hunt/kill 1 bull.  The permit was not good for anyother hunter.  THe FS called me and gave me the names of the scouts and the second string of scouts if they were needed. The permit had boundries and that was my concern, I was not going to allow them to hunt/scout on me.  The FS assured me they were informed of this and the permit holder was in agreement.
Yes I know permit holder and recognize some of the scouts names.  This permit was not in the Wenaha/Tucannon wilderness but parts of the adjoining units.  There are alot of good hunters that hire Guides/Outfitters, mostly for the access to some great hunting.  I have yet to have a guided hunt where we led our hunters by the hand a gave them a set up shot.  My clients have all worked their tails off for their tags.  Some filled some taken home.  Most of my guided big bull tags are people that have never set foot in the unit, we know the animals and where to find them, they are wanting the best chance for these coveted tags.  I get alot of calls from DIY guys wanting meat packed and I offer this service. Unless you spend the time scouting this area like we do and know the game a DIY hunt is pretty tough.

Do I support this gov. tag type of hunting??  Like most of you my way of thinking has changed since 2008.  I would like to see where the dollars go.

Actual guiding hunters is a small part of my business,  I'm really in the transport business of packing in camps, having it all there when the clients arrive and then packing meat and hunters out.

The individuals name on the permit does not start with a W.

I think that is one of the best bulls I have ever seen.  I like that bull even better than last years.  I cannot imagine what I would do if that bull came in bugling at 30 yards with snot shooting out of his nose, wow!  That would be a dream of mine.  Congrats to Agnew on my dream bull!

I've had a lot of respect for you and the things you've done and accomplished in the past. I think I've even conveyed that to you before....I'm not gonna lie...you saying the crap you're spewing just flushed all that respect I used to have for you down the toilet. I can't seriously believe you would alienate fellow hunters by spewing the crap you are currently spewing.

I don't think I'll lose any sleep over what you think, just as you shouldn't over my opinion.  Agnew is not a hunter, as far as I am concerned.  If I bought the Gov. tag.  I assure you I would not hire a guide, I would spend time HUNTING the Blues with my hunting buddies, not "hire a group of Scouts to find bulls for his consideration." as mtcook put it.  Not sure what part of my opinion you think is crap, but that's ok.  I respect  you for saying so.
