I've had a lot of respect for you and the things you've done and accomplished in the past. I think I've even conveyed that to you before....I'm not gonna lie...you saying the crap you're spewing just flushed all that respect I used to have for you down the toilet. I can't seriously believe you would alienate fellow hunters by spewing the crap you are currently spewing.
 :twocents:

I don't think I'll lose any sleep over what you think, just as you shouldn't over my opinion.  Agnew is not a hunter, as far as I am concerned.  If I bought the Gov. tag.  I assure you I would not hire a guide, I would spend time HUNTING the Blues with my hunting buddies, not "hire a group of Scouts to find bulls for his consideration." as mtcook put it.  Not sure what part of my opinion you think is crap, but that's ok.  I respect  you for saying so.

Maybe the part when you said that if you hire a guide you are not a hunter. That is a blanket statement that would not go over well with many people. What if you want to go kill a moose in Canada or a griz in AK or a lion in Africa. You would be required to hire a guide to do so.

I wouldn't say good job agnew, I would say good job to all the scouts. I'm sure the scouts worked there butts off, Agnew just probably showed up and pulled the trigger. Mtcook, thanks you answered a lot of questions I was wondering about. Very interesting, I wonder if someone who didn't have lots of money could get a forest service permit like that????

What makes hunting special is the journey. The ups downs the successes and failures... I don't know his story and don't care!  I heard a saying that i would like to share with all of you..." The grass is always greener on the other side because it's fertilized with Bull $hit!"  Maybe you HATERS should concentrate on on yourself and why YOU enjoy the hunt.... How you can get more out of the hunt, and the rest of you life!  I personally like the quiet hours to reflect, and slow down.... Soak up the sounds of the forest, sun, and the fragrance.... Let my ears clear themselves of the hustle and bustle and focus on the rustle of leave and the inevitable snap of the twig that tells me my prey is near.... I like the cutting of meat, the smell of  cooking heart over the fire and the sharing of a cold one after the hunt... That is why I hunt... And I think it is ridiculous for you to waste your time worrying about why the grass is greener on the other side of the fence..  :twocents:

Here's my  :twocents:!
I have absolutely no problem for the guy spending $40K for the tag. The money goes to a good cause and helps us out in the long run. I also do not have a problem with him hiring a guide to help him "Hunt" the elk. However I agree with some I dont think it is hunting when you pay someone else to find the elk for you, take you to that specific elk and then set you up for a shot. This is called shooting! No different then high fence hunting as long as the animal is not spooked or aware that you are there. JMO
As far as this being a elk that any average hunter with a permit or incentive tag could have gotten, well now we find out that is not the case either. As Mtncook stated "They (Agnew/individual) met with the FS to discuss terms, they were set back by the FS but a permit was issued to hunt/kill 1 bull. The permit was not good for any other hunter"  The way I read it if this would have been you or me or anyone else this bull would have been offlimits. I'm just curious, how much did he have to pay for the special FS permit.

For those of youo that think this is no big deal, would you feel better if he had shot the Hanford bull and we just found out he was able to get a special permit to go in and hunt it and kill it. A permit that would be next to impossible for the average hunter to get!

Again I could care less how much money this guy has or how much money he spent on the tag. This is not an elk that the average hunter could have harvested. I disagree with the way that is was shot!

I could be wrong but I took that to mean that the guides that got the permit could not guide to more then one elk.

That's how I understood it.

Well if thats the way it was then I guess my opinion changes a "little". I took it the way I posted it.
I still dont call it hunting when you have a dozen people go out and find you animal and sit on it till youo show up to kill it!

The permit was for one hunter.  The individual could not do business with the general public.

Sorry if that was not clear.

I'm really tired of money bags, and his stupid grin.  A spike is more of a trophy, if you actually hunt it yourself.  What's his money going towards, another face lift for our Gov, Skeletor?

If you need a guide, you aren't a hunter.  IMO

Well looks like you will never hunt Canada then, thats the most arrogant comment i have ever seen posted on here... Lost alot of respect for your post on here now Viking... You think your quit the big shot hunter by the sounds of it..!

irragant

it's arrogant  looks like you lost a lot of respect from people who know how to spell.   ;)

FYI, I think I'm an average hunter who likes to get out in the woods and work hard at hunting an animal, without paying someone to do all the work for me.  It's my opinion, and I'm sure you all can get over the fact we may have differing opinions.
